The Game —
- Oregon State opens the month of November Saturday versus USC at Reser Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. PT.
- The game is slated to air on FS1. It is the first of two scheduled games on FS1 this year, with the Civil War and regular-season finale Nov. 23 versus Oregon also set to air on the network.
- Every game this season can be heard live via the TuneIn application, which is available online and on smartphones and tablets. To find the game, once the app has been downloaded, search "Beaver Sports Network."
- Oregon State is coming off a 41-34 overtime win over Colorado in Boulder last weekend. The win snapped the Beavers' 22-game road losing streak; the team's last road win prior came in 2014, also in Boulder.
- Oregon State trailed 31-3 early in the third quarter. The win tied for the largest comeback in OSU history and was the third-largest in the Pac-12 all-time.
- The Beavers set a school-record with 99 offensive plays in the win over Colorado, surpassing a 50-year record that was set in 1968 versus Utah. The previous record was 97 plays, 93 of which were rushing attempts.
- USC leads the all-time series, 62-11, including a 13-5 mark in Corvallis. Despite playing for the first time in 1914, the Trojans did not make their first visit to Corvallis until 1967, a 3-0 Oregon State win by the "Giant Killers."
- The Beavers' last win in the series came at Reser Stadium, in 2010, at 36-7. The teams have met just three times since, in 2013, 2014 and 2017.
- Quarterback Jake Luton is the reigning Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week after passing for 310 yards and three touchdowns in the second half and overtime in the comeback victory over the Buffaloes.
Â
Versus The Trojans —
- OSU secondary coach Greg Burns served in the same capacity at USC from 2002-05. The Trojans were 48-4 during his tenure, winning national championships in 2003 and 2004.
- Derek Anderson's 485 passing yards against USC in 2003 set a then-school record, which has since been bested by Sean Mannion's 493 versus Washington State in 2013. Anderson tossed a 90-yard pass to Mike Hass in that game, tied for the fourth-longest mark in school history.
- Hass ended that day with 208 yards, one of 10 200-plus receiving games in OSU history. Hass did it three times - also versus Boise State (293 yards) in 2004 and 225 against Stanford in 2003.
- Ken Simonton, three years prior to Anderson's output, ran for 234 yards in a win over the Trojans in LA. That total is now fifth in school history thanks to two top-four performances by Jermar Jefferson this year.
- Oregon State players have rushed for 100-yard games 12 times versus the Trojans. Jacquizz Rodgers, who had three such games versus USC, was the last Beaver to do so, gaining 128 yards and a touchdown in 2010.
- Oregon State has defeated the Trojans twice while USC was ranked No. 1: 3-0 in 1967 and 27-21 in 2008, both times in Corvallis. The Beavers also defeated the Trojans when USC was No. 3 in 2006, 33-31.
- Saturday marks just the second time in the last 11 meetings that USC will not be ranked. The Trojans were unranked in 2013.
- Head coach Jonathan Smith was 1-3 versus the Trojans while under center for the Beavers. But his victory, in 2000, was a big one. A 31-21 win, it snapped a 26-game losing streak in the series to USC. The team's previous win had been the 3-0 victory in 1967. At the time, the 31 points were the second-most ever scored versus USC - 38 in 1914 is still the all-time most. OSU has since scored 36 points twice (2009 and 2010) and 33 in 2006.
Â
Luton For 310 —
- Jake Luton is the reigning Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week after passing for 310 yards and three touchdowns against Colorado - all coming in the second half and overtime. The 310 yards mark a career-high for the senior and are the second time he's hit the 300-yard mark. The first came in his OSU debut, the 2017 season opener at Colorado State when he finished with 304.
- Luton is the first Oregon State QB to earn the Pac-12's honor since Sean Mannion on Sept. 30, 2013.
It's the 85th time an Oregon State quarterback has thrown for 300 or more in a game, 66 of which have come this century.
Schedule Down The Road —
- Oregon State closes out its 2018 regular season schedule with four games against opponents who all have records of .500 or better.
OSU's last four opponents have a .625 winning percentage this year, going 20-12.
- Oregon State's past and future opponents have combined for a 52-39 record this year, a .571 winning percentage.
A True Freshmen "Quizz" —
- Running back Jermar Jefferson has posted five 100-yard plus rushing games already this season, which ranks second among all-time OSU greats for true freshmen in a season.
- Jacquizz Rodgers had seven such games during the 2008 season. He holds the single-season record for true freshman at OSU with 1,253 yards on the ground that year.
Â
More On Jefferson —
- Jermar Jefferson has 1,034 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns this year after totaling 135 versus Colorado.
- He is the eighth player in Oregon State history to record a 1,000-yard season and it's the 16th time an OSU player has hit 1,000 or more yards. The last to do so prior to Jefferson was Jacquizz Rodgers with 1,184 yards in 2010.
- Jefferson is on pace for 1,551 yards this season, which would rank fourth in a season at Oregon State.
- By hitting 1,000 yards, Jefferson is also the 35th player in school history to reach that mark for a career. He joins teammate Artavis Pierce, who reached 1,000 earlier this season.
- The Harbor City, Calif., native has two four-touchdown games this season, joining Ken Simonton as the only Oregon State running backs to accomplish the feat twice. Jefferson is the only player to do it twice in the same season; Simonton's came once in 1998 and once in 1999.
- He was recently named as a candidate for the Doak Walker Award and is one of just two freshmen nationally on the list.
Â
Michalczik's 18 —
- Players have now rushed for 1,000 or more yards a total of 18 times during Jim Michalczik's tenure as an offensive line coach at Montana State (1992-98), Oregon State (1999-2001, 2018), California (2002-08, 2011-12), the Oakland Raiders (2009-10) and Arizona (2013-17).
18 For Hodgins, Too —
- Sophomore Isaiah Hodgins has played in 18 career games after starting and recording 11 catches for 146 yards against Colorado, and has at least one catch in every single game. He tallied 10 of his 11 receptions in the second half, tied for the second-best mark in OSU history.
- The Oakley, Calif., native heads into the matchup versus USC with 68 career catches for 807 yards.
- He tied the Oregon State single-game record with 14 receptions earlier this season. Hodgins finished with 200 yards against the Wolf Pack, the 10th-most ever by an Oregon State player.
Â
Going For It On Fourth —
- Oregon State was successful on all three of its fourth-down opportunities against Colorado, and has converted 11 for its last 12.
- Oregon State is 19-of-23 this season on fourth down, and ranks second in the Pac-12 and third nationally - behind No. 1 Army and No. 2 Washington State - with a .826 success rate.
- The Beavers are 15-for-16 on 4th-and-5 or less, including a perfect 6-for-6 mark on 4th-and-1. OSU is 2-for-2 on 4th and 10 or more.
Oregon State last had a 50-percent success rate on fourth down in 2013, when the Beavers were 14-for-26 (54 pct.).
