Beavers Row to Seventh Place Finish at Head of the Charles Regatta

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Oregon State men's rowing team had a strong start to the fall season at the 54th Head of the Charles Regatta in on the Charles River on Sunday rowing to a top 10 finish.
"Blustery is an understatement, it was extremely windy as the Charles [River] can be in October," said head coach Gabe Winkler. "One gust can hit you and throw you off your game, but the guys handled it pretty well, but still came off the water a little frustrated. However, if a frustrated piece lands you 4th collegiately that is something to build off of.
The Beavers comprised of Emerson Chase, Max McDonald, Roman Pjajka, Alex Carlton and coxed by Gen Garrison finished in seventh place overall in the Men's Championship 4+ category. OSU traversed the three-mile course in a time of 17:58.316.
Oregon State placed fourth among collegiate opponents in the category, after placing third the previous two years at the Head of the Charles.
KNRB won the Men's Champion 4+ with a time of 17:10.194, while Brown University won the category for the Collegiate Championship division.
The Beavers are back in action next weekend at the Portland Fall Classic on Sunday, Oct. 28.
