Beavers Open Pac-12 Schedule at No. 9 Arizona State

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Opening up Pacific-12 Conference action on the road, Oregon State wrestling is back in action this weekend as it travels to Tempe, Ariz. to grapple the No. 9-ranked Arizona State Sun Devils on Saturday afternoon.

The Beavers currently hold a 2-4 dual meet record, with the most recent being a 29-12 loss at home to No. 23 Wyoming on Jan. 14. This is the first conference dual for OSU this season, OSU went 4-1 in the Pac-12 a season ago. Ronnie Bresser (125) and Amar Dhesi (285) are both unbeaten in duals this season.
Arizona State, ranked No. 9 in the NWCA Coaches Poll, is 7-2 in duals so far this season. The Sun Devils defeated a pair of ranked opponents on Jan. 13 beating No. 11 Northern Iowa, 24-16, before defeating No. 9 Virginia Tech later on in the day, 21-15. ASU hosts Stanford in a Pac-12 matchup on Friday, before taking on Oregon State the following day.
Saturday afternoon's match will be the 40th time the two teams have grappled in dual competition. Oregon State trails slightly in the series, 19-20-0; the Sun Devils got the best of the Beavers last season in Gill, 33-11.
Ranked Beavers
Oregon State continues to be represented in the individual rankings by a number of wrestling media outlets. 125-pounder Ronnie Bresser is ranked No. 6 by Win Magazine, a pair of No. 8 placings by Amateur Wrestling News and TheOpenMat, and a No. 9-ranking by InterMat. Bresser is just one win away from his 80th career victory; he currently is ranked 41st on the Oregon State wrestling all-time career wins list.
Redshirt junior 197-pounder Corey Griego sits at No. 16 by InterMat, No. 17 by Amateur Wrestling News and No. 20 by TheOpenMat.

Finalizing the Beavers rankings is redshirt senior Amar Dhesi. A 2016 5th place finisher at the NCAAs who missed all of last season with an injury, Dhesi sits as high as No. 10 in the Amateur Wrestling News rankings. He is ranked No. 11 by Win Magazine, No. 12 by InterMat, and No. 13 by TheOpenMat.
