Men’s Rowing Garners 16 All-Academic Honors

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Sixteen Oregon State men's rowers were named to the Pac-12 Men's Rowing All-Academic team when it was announced by the Conference on Friday.
Sixteen Pac-12 All-Academic honorees marks the most in program history improving on the previous mark of 15 in 2013.
Eight OSU rowers earned first team honors including senior Nathan Smith (civil engineering), juniors Baxter Call (environmental engineering) and Neall Koetje (exercise and sport science), and sophomores Zach Fried (chemistry), Camron Gharib (political science), Miles Moran (kinesiology), Brad Vomocil (mathematics) and Wesley Yu (bioresource research). It is the second straight year Call and Koetje have earned first team honors while Smith has twice been a second team selection.
In addition, three Beavers achieved second team honors including senior Liam Kucey (civil engineering) and sophomores Ercoli Crugnale (philosophy) and Hunter Smith (mechanical engineering). It is the second all-academic award for Kucey.
Honorable mention recognition went to seniors Frank Horpel, Spencer Smith and Grant Van Kampen, and sophomores Austin DeMartine and Glenn Miller. It is the third occasion Van Kampen has received all-academic consideration.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and participate in at least half of their team's scheduled regular season events.
