Susie Cavanagh Prepared For NCAA Nationals

CORVALLIS, Ore. – After posting the best 54-hole score of her career, Susie Cavanagh is prepared for the NCAA Division I Women's Golf National Championships, which begins Friday in Sugar Grove, Ill.

Cavanagh finished the NCAA Regionals with a 1-under 76-71-68--215 at the par-71, 6,593-yard Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas and was one of the low three individuals not on the low six teams to qualify for NCAA Nationals.

She is just the third Oregon State women's golfer to advance to Nationals as an individual, joining All-American Kathleen Takaishi in 1999 and Anica Yoo in 2015. Takaishi finished in a tie for 48th place at the Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., while Yoo finished in a tie for 45th at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.

Cavanagh, a native of Warwick, R.I., transferred to Oregon State from UConn, where she played ice hockey in 2013-14. She posted a scoring average of 75.19 this season for the Beavers with four sub-par rounds, including a career-best 4-under 68 in the final round at NCAA Regionals.

FIELD: The field for the NCAA National Championships includes 24 teams and 12 individuals that qualified at four regional competitions that were held May 8-10.

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT: The NCAA National Championships consists of all 24 teams and 12 individuals completing 54 holes of stroke play. The top 15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team will advance for one additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for match play competition and the 72-hole stroke play individual champion. The top eight teams then compete in match play for the championship.

COURSE: The NCAA National Championships will be held at the par-72, 6,343-yard Rich Harvest Farms.

TEE TIMES: Susie Cavanagh will tee off at 8:25 a.m. CT (6:25 a.m. PT) in the first round on Friday. She will be paired with Cara Gorlei of Arkansas and Maya Walton of Princeton. The threesome will tee off at 12:55 p.m. CT (10:55 a.m. PT) on Saturday. The tee times for Sunday's round will be determined by individual standings after the first two rounds.
