Seventh-year coach was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck was again identified as one of the top coaches in the nation Friday, as he was named one of 10 finalists for the 2017 Werner Ladder Naismith Women's National College Coach of the Year award.
The field of top coaches will be narrowed down to four finalists on March 15, with the winner being selected the week of the Final Four.
Rueck earns John R. Wooden Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors for the second time, becoming the fifth coach in conference history to win the award more than once. The seventh-year coach is already second on Oregon State's career wins list with 149, and has led Oregon State to three-consecutive Pac-12 regular season titles. Rueck was one of four finalists for Naismith Coach of the Year last season, and finished second to only UConn's Geno Auriemma in the 2016 AP Coach of the Year voting.
Oregon State will head to the Pac-12 Tournament this week, after locking down the regular season title outright on Sunday. The Beavers will open the event at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, as they take on the winner of Thursday's game between USC and California.
