Beavers conclude action at MPSF meet
February 25, 2017 | Women's Track & Field
SEATTLE, Wash. – The Oregon State track & field team posted three more all-time top-10 times or marks on Saturday on Day 2 of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation indoor championships at the Dempsey Indoor Center in Seattle.
Morgan Anderson ran 9:43.11, the fourth-best time in school history. She bettered her former PR of 9:43.76 by more than half a second.
Gwyneth McMorris ran 2:15.12 in the 800, the second-fastest time in school history. She had been No. 4 at 2:15.54.
Lindsay McShane improved four feet in the shot put with a throw of 40-5.50, the No. 10 all-time mark. Her previous PR was 36-5.
All told the Beavers set four school records and posted 11 all-time top-10 times or marks at the two-meet, which concluded the indoor season. They scored 11 points and placed 15th among 18 teams.
"We had a very solid meet," coach Kelly Sullivan said. "Setting four more school records and adding seven other top-10 times or marks shows our hard work is paying off.
"The D'Arpino twins had a great day on Friday, with each of them setting a school record. Venessa just missed another school record today. Our throwers and jumpers continue to progress, even though it has been very hard to train with all the inclement weather we've had.
"We are ready for some rest, and are very much looking forward to the outdoor season. The rest of the team will join us after some of them were held out of indoor competition because their events are not held [javelin, hammer, discus, steeplechase], or to save wear-and-tear on their bodies.
"Our entire team will be fired up and ready to go for the entire outdoor campaign when it starts next month."
On Friday, school records were set by:
OSU is now idle until March 17-18, when it opens the outdoor season at the Lewis & Clark Invitational in Portland.
