Spencer Tibbits Posts Another Top Finish

STOCKTON, Calif. – Spencer Tibbits fired a 5-under 67 in the final round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational on Saturday to lead the Oregon State men's golf team for the third time this season.
Tibbits concluded the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a 6-under 71-72-67--210 to finish in a tie for 12th place. In three collegiate tournaments, the frosh has posted a tie for ninth place (Mark Simpson Invitational), a tie for sixth place (Alister MacKenzie Invitational) and a tie for 12th.
The Beavers moved up one spot for the second straight day, carding a 3-over 290-291-286--867 at the par-72, 7,082-yard Reserve at Spanos Park, to finish 12th in the 20-team field.
Sophomore Shawn Lu finished in red figures for the second consecutive tournament, shooting a steady 1-under 72-71-72--215, to finish in a tie for 30th place. He carded a career-best 3-under 75-69-66--210 at the Alister MacKenzie earlier this fall. His best three-round score entering this season was a 2-over 218 at The Jackrabbit last fall.
Senior Jonas Liebich shot a 1-over 73 for the second straight day and finished the tourney in a tie for 51st place with a 4-over 74-73-73--220.
Sophomore Kyosuke Hara finished in a tie for 65th place with a 6-over 73-75-74--222 and junior Trevor Yu carded a 9-over 76-75-74--225 to finish in a tie for 79th.
Santa Clara held the lead all three days to win the team title with a 30-under 834 and Patrick Fishburn of BYU fired a 7-under 65 in the final round to rally for the individual crown with a 13-under 203.
The Beavers will compete in their final tournament of the fall season from Monday, Nov. 6 to Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the Saint Mary's Invitational in Pebble Beach, Calif.
