Beavers Move Up At Pacific Invitational
October 27, 2017 | Men's Golf
STOCKTON, Calif. – The Oregon State men's golf team moved up one spot at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational on Friday.
The Beavers moved to 13th place in the 20-team field with a 5-over 290-291--581 at the par-72, 7,082-yard Reserve at Spanos Park.
The final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins Saturday morning and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
"In this game it's easy to make a mountain out of a molehill if you aren't comfortable," Oregon State head coach Jon Reehoorn said. "It feels like we are try to be too perfect and, when we make a mistake, the reaction is to try and make an adjustment and not trust the preparation leading up to the event."
Sophomore Shawn Lu and freshman Spencer Tibbits are both tied for 21st place with a 1-under 143, as Lu has scores of 72-71 and Tibbits is the reverse with 71-72.
Senior Jonas Liebich is tied for 55th place with 3-over 74-73--147, sophomore Kyosuke Hara is a stroke back and tied for 64th with a 4-over 73-75--148 and junior Trevor Yu is tied for 85th with a 7-over 76-75--151.
"In Spencer's round he was not playing up to his standard and then made three birdies in a row," Reehoorn said. "All of our guys need to have the mindset that at any time the good stuff is going show up. We can't automatically begin to search to find something when we already have it inside of us."
Santa Clara maintained its team lead with a 14-under 562 and Alex Lee of Fresno State holds a one-stroke advantage for the individual title with a 9-under 135.
