AURORA, Ore. – The Oregon State women's golf team went to #DamCity for a two-day tournament and left with the championship trophy.

The Beavers shot a 12-over 290-295-291--876 at the par-72, 6,057-yard Langdon Farms Golf Club to win the 15-team Rose City Collegiate by three strokes over Sacramento State. Portland State, Seattle and UC Riverside rounded out the top five.

It's the 11th team title in program history and the first for Dawn Shockley in just her second tournament as the Beavers' head coach.

"It was a great fight to come back and get the win," Shockley said. "They showed grit, which is something we talked about all season. We will continue to grow and use this momentum for the remainder of the year."

Sophomore Olivia Benzin recorded a top-10 finish for the second time in as many tournaments this season, after shooting a 1-over 72-74-71--217 for a career-best tie for fifth place. She finished 10th at the season-opening Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colo., two weeks ago.

Her best previous finish was seventh at last year's Rose City Collegiate. The 1-under 71 in the final round was the third sub-par round of Benzin's career and just one shot shy of the 2-under 70 she carded in the final round of last year's Rose City Collegiate.

Junior Susie Cavanagh had a great start to her Oregon State career after finishing in a tie for eighth place with a 4-over 73-69-78--220. She was making her Beaver debut after transferring from UConn where she competed in ice hockey for one season.

Junior Haley Nist fired a 1-under 71 in the final round to climb 14 spots up the leaderboard and finish in a tie for 17th place with a 7-over 75-77-71--223. Nist had two sub-par rounds last season when she finished with the best single-season scoring average in program history (74.43).

Junior Hannah Swanson and freshman Nicole Schroeder both finished in a tie for 22nd place with a 9-over 225. Swanson was steady over the three rounds with scores of 74-75-76, while Schroeder battled through a tough second round to finish with 71-81-73.

Senior Elyse Smidinger, who was competing as an individual, finished in sole seventh place with a 2-over 73-67-78--218.

The Beavers have two weeks off before competing at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational in Tacoma, Wash., on Monday, Oct. 10 and Tuesday, Oct. 11.
