Beavers In Second Place With 18 Holes To Play

AURORA, Ore. – The Oregon State women's golf team is in second place, and only two shots out of the lead, through 36 holes at the Rose City Collegiate.
The Beavers shot a 2-over 290 in the morning round at the par-72, 6,057-yard Langdon Farms Golf Club and a 7-over 295 in the afternoon to finish Monday's 36 holes with a 9-over 585.
Sacramento State holds a two-stroke advantage in the 15-team field after posting a 7-over 294-289--583. Portland State is third with a 12-over 300-288--588.
The final round of the two-day, 54-hole tournament will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday with tee times off the first and 10th holes. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Junior Susie Cavanagh, who is making her Oregon State debut after transferring from UConn, led the Beavers with a 2-under 73-69--142 to put her in a tie for fourth place.
Sophomore Olivia Benzin is in 11th place with a 2-over 72-74--146 and junior Hannah Swanson is tied for 21st with a 74-75--149.
Junior Haley Nist and freshman Nicole Schroeder are both tied for 31st place with an 8-over 152, as Nist posted scores of 75-77 and Schroeder finished with 71-81.
Senior Elyse Smidinger, who is competing as an individual, is tied for first place with Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg at 4-under 140. Smidinger shot the low round of the day, a 5-under 67 in the afternoon, after opening the tourney with a 1-over 73.
