Beavers Set For Season-Opening Tourney

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's golf team opens its 2016-17 season Sunday through Tuesday at The Jackrabbit in Valentine, Neb.
The Beavers recently spent seven days in Scotland, playing courses like Muirfield Golf Club, North Berwick Golf Links and Gullane Golf Club No. 1 and No. 2, to prepare for the season.
FIELD (11): Oregon State, Central Florida, Clemson, Connecticut, Creighton, Furman, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota State, Tennessee and William & Mary.
COURSE: The tournament will be held at the par-72, 7,785-yard Dunes Course at the Prairie Club. It's ranked the second-best course in Nebraska by Golf Digest and No. 78 on Golf Magazine's top 100 public courses in the country.
BEAVERS' LINEUP: Oregon State will go with a lineup of seniors Calum Hill, Conner Kumpula and Kevin Murphy, junior Jonas Liebich and true freshman Shawn Lu.
FORMAT: Three-day, 54-hole tournament with 18 holes each day. The top-four individuals from each five-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.
TEE TIMES: There will be a shotgun start at 7 a.m. PT (9 a.m. CT) on Sunday and Monday, and a 6 a.m. PT (8 a.m. CT) shotgun start on Tuesday.
LIVE SCORING: There will be live scoring for the tournament on golfstat.com.

ALL-ACADEMIC: Conner Kumpula was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team and Chris Tedesco and Jonas Liebich both received Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition at the end of last season.
Kumpula, a senior from Albany, Ore., received Pac-12 All-Academic honors for the second straight year for his 3.37 cumulative GPA in industrial engineering. He was also named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Tedesco, who graduated this past summer, was named Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention for the second straight year for his 3.32 cumulative GPA in business finance.
Liebich, a junior from Ingolstadt, Germany, earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention honors in his first eligible year for a 3.27 cumulative GPA in pre-business.
