
Marshall Hits Milestone As Beavers Sweep Syracuse

The Beavers have won six straight sets after Friday's sweep
LINCOLN, Neb. – Mary-Kate Marshall hit the 1,000-kill milestone and Lanesha Reagan paced Oregon State with 16 kills as the Beavers swept Syracuse Friday afternoon at the Devaney Center.

Set scores were 25-10, 25-19 and 25-20.

Marshall became the 15th player in Oregon State history to reach the milestone. The junior now has 1,007 kills for her career after tallying eight in the victory over the Orange.

Marshall's history-making kill came early in set one. She took a set from senior Lila Toner, and deposited her attack in Syracuse's side of the court to put the Beavers (3-1 overall) up 5-2.

Reagan, meanwhile, hit double digits for the fourth time this season, and led the Beavers in kills for the third time. Her 16 kills came on 31 attacks, with two errors, for an impressive .452 hitting percentage. The redshirt sophomore added three digs, two blocks and a service ace.

Marshall's eight kills were second on the team, while Toner was third with five. Daniela Vargas, making her first career start, and Serena Bruin each had four. Bruin added a team-high four blocks, while Kayla Ellis tallied 13 digs.

Overall, the Beavers hit .275 for the match compared to a .088 clip for Syracuse. Oregon State also held the advantage in aces (8-to-3) and assists (35-to-23). The Orange did out-dig the Beavers, 43-to-39, but that was due in large part to Oregon State's 102 attacks. Syracuse, meanwhile, managed 11 less at 91.

Syracuse's only set with a positive hitting percentage came in the second, a 25-19 OSU win. Syracuse hit .263 in the frame. The Orange posted a -.043 mark in set one and a -.033 clip in set three.

By comparison, the Beavers started the match with a .500 clip in set one, followed by .244 in set two and .143 in set three.
