
Beavers open season at home versus CSUN Sunday

THE WEEKEND
The Oregon State women's soccer team will begin the 2016 season this Sunday, when the Beavers play host to Cal State Northridge starting at 12 p.m. at Lorenz Field.
A WIN ON SUNDAY WOULD
• Be the 239th win in program history.
• Be OSU's second-straight win in a season opener.
• Be OSU's fourth win over CSUN (sixth meeting).
• Be HC Linus Rhode's second win over CSUN (third meeting).
• Be the Beavers first win since 2011 in a home/season opener.
SERIES HISTORY
• Sunday's match will mark the sixth meeting between Oregon State and Cal State Northridge.
• The Beavers carry a 3-2 advantage going into the non-conference battle and a perfect 3-0 mark at home.
• The series started back in 1996 with OSU winning 4-0.
• CSUN's two wins were a 1-0(OT) in 1998 and the last meeting in 2013 with a 3-1 victory.
SCOUTING THE MATADORS
• CSUN finished the 2015 season with an 11-8-1 overall record.
• The Matadors finished fifth in the Big West with a record of 4-3-1.
• HC for the Matadors is Keith West in his 10th season and has compiled a 87-93-17 overall record.
• Cal State Northridge will face Portland State on Friday afternoon, before playing the Beavers on Sunday.

• The Beavers hold a 13-14-1 record in opening day matches.
• OSU recorded a 2-1 overtime win a season ago at Portland.
• HC Linus Rhode is 4-4 all-time in season openers.
• This will be the first time since 2012 that the Beavers open their schedule at home.
• The Beavers are 7-5 all-time in opening day matches at home with their last win coming back in 2011.

• OSU head coach Linus Rhode welcomes 12 starters and 15 letterwinners back from the 2015-16 season.Â
• The squad will also welcome six newcomers to start their careers at Oregon State.
• The Beavers have 26 student-athletes on the roster, including 10-of-13 players that appeared in all-19 or 18 matches last season.

• OSU will face four teams that are ranked in the preseason top-25 by the NSCAA and TopDrawerSoccer.com.
• No. 5 Stanford, No. 11 USC, No. 18 California and No. 20 Arizona are ranked by the NSCAA.
• Stanford claimed its fifth Pac-12 title and reached the national quarterfinal match last year.Â
