
Fehmel, Madrigal Earn More Freshman Honors

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State right-handed pitcher Bryce Fehmel and second baseman Nick Madrigal have both been named first team Freshman All-Americans by Perfect Game on Tuesday.

The honors continue a trend for the pair, who had spectacular rookie campaigns for the Beavers. Fehmel, who was named Pac-12 Conference Honorable Mention, has been named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) in addition to being named a second-team All-American (overall) by Collegiate Baseball.

Madrigal was also named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball in addition to being a first-team selection by Baseball America. He was the Pac-12's Freshman of the Year and is a member of the league's all-defensive team.

Fehmel finished his freshman campaign with a team-best 10-1 record and 2.31 earned run average. The right-hander struck out 51 in 70 innings, allowing only 58 hits. His WHIP for the season was 1.15.

Madrigal, meanwhile, tied for the team lead with 65 hits en route to a .333 batting average. He tallied 11 doubles, five triples, one home run and 29 runs batted in over 49 games, 48 of which were starts. He also held the longest hit streak of the season at 14 games.
