SAN FRANCISCO – Three former Oregon State rowers, Joey Hansen, Josh Inman and Amy Martin were selected to the Men's and Women's Rowing All-Century teams, which were released Monday night on the Pac-12 Networks' 'Pac-12 Sports Report.'
Martin arrived at Oregon State in 1993 having never touched an oar. She went on to twice earn OSU's Most Valuable Oarswoman and a pair of Pac-10 All-Conference First Team selections in 1995 and '96. Martin's rowing career continued with three appearances in the World Championships as a member of the U.S. Women's National Team from 1997-99 and culminated in a seat in the USA's 2000 Olympic women's eight at the Sydney Games where her crew finished sixth. Martin is a member of the Oregon State Athletics Hall of Fame.
Hansen, like Martin and Inman, had never rowed prior to arriving in Corvallis. Hansen, a three-time Pac-10 First Team selection, led his Varsity Eight crew to a 10th place finish at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) national championships as a senior in 2001. During the fall of that season, Hansen had recorded one of the fastest ergometer times in the country, topping several U.S. National Team rowers, who he would call teammates by the end of the year. The three-time member of the national team, Hansen earned a seat in the country's most prestigious boat, the heavyweight eight, taking the gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
Inman followed in the footsteps of his teammate, lettering at OSU from 2000-02. He continued his rowing career after leaving Oregon State going on to earn USRowing Male Athlete of the Year following a win at the World Rowing Championships with the U.S. National Team men's 8+. A three-time U.S. National Team member, Inman earned a seat in the heavyweight eight, racing to a bronze medal finish at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Twenty-two of the 25 members on the Men's Rowing All-Century team are Olympians, and all-century team members have competed in 39 Olympic games with a total of 26 Olympic medals won. Meanwhile, 22 of the 25 members of the Women's Rowing All-Century Team are Olympians who have competed in 35 Olympic games. In all, members of the team have won 19 Olympic medals.
The teams, comprised of 22 rowers and 3 coxswains, were voted on by a panel consisting of coaches, rowers, administrators and members of the media. Each member of the team was chosen based on their collegiate careers in the Conference.
