Last Game
Scotland Church struck out a career-high six in a career-long 6 1/3 innings of relief but the Beavers were unable to overcome an early seven-run deficit in a 7-6 loss to Oregon Wednesday night in Eugene. OSU put the tying run on third with one down in the ninth, but was unable to drive in Christian Donahue. Jack Anderson drove in two and Donahue and Nick Madrigal each tallied two hits for the Beavers, who finished with nine overall.
Against Stanford
• Oregon State has won 11 straight over the Cardinal, the longest streak for the Beavers in the series.
• The Beavers have tallied wins in 14 of the last 15 games. The lone Stanford win over that stretch was an 8-2 decision in 2012.
• OSU has won five consecutive series over Stanford.
• The Beavers have won five straight games at Goss Stadium, and a win Friday would tie the longest home win streak in the series for OSU (set from 2006-08).
• Head coach Pat Casey owns 31 of the Beavers' 39 all-time victories (79.4 percent).
Eckert Note
• Friday's probable starter, Travis Eckert, is scheduled to make his fourth start at Goss Stadium this season.
• The senior is 2-1 with a stellar 0.89 earned run average in 20 1/3 innings at home this season. He has allowed just eight hits with six walks and 19 strikeouts.
• Eckert is 6-2 with a 2.36 ERA in 11 career starts at Goss.
• The right-hander scattered seven hits and three runs in 5 1/3 innings last year against Stanford for the win. OSU defeated Stanford, 12-3, in the finale for the sweep.
Radio Friday
• Due to the Portland Trail Blazers playoff game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Friday's baseball game can be heard on KEX 1190 AM in the Portland area.
Back Home
• The Beavers' Friday game is the first at home since defeating Central Arkansas, 7-1, on April 10.
• Oregon State is 10-3 at home this season, sporting a .295 batting average while opponents are hitting just .207.
Singles
• Sophomore Michael Gretler comes into the series with the Cardinal sporting four hits in his last three games, tallying four RBI on the strength of a two-run home run.
