Morrison Named To Brooks Wallace Award Watch List
April 23, 2016 | Baseball
LUBBOCK, Texas – The initial watch list for the 2016 Brooks Wallace Award has been released and Oregon State junior Trever Morrison is one of 54 players on it.
The award is given annually to the nation's top collegiate shortstop.
Morrison, who is one of four players from the Pac-12 Conference on the initial watch list, is batting .301 with seven doubles, four triples and one home run, having played in every one of Oregon State's 36 games this season, making 33 starts.
Defensively, he has been a part of 22 of the Beavers' 26 double plays, and has 85 assists on the year, second only to Nick Madrigal.
Per the College Baseball Hall of Fame, the award is given in tribute to Brooks Wallace, a slick-fielding shortstop at Texas Tech from 1977-80 who passed away at age 27 after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Oregon State returns to action Wednesday when visiting Oregon at PK Park in a non-conference game. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. PT and the game can be seen live on the Pac-12 Network and Pac-12 Oregon.
