
Beavers to Race at Crew Classic

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State's men's rowing team is back in action this weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic. The Beavers will have three crews – Varsity 8, Junior Varsity 8 and Third Varsity 8 – take the waters of Mission Bay Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3.
“This is a fun race that we look forward to. It's time to go to some good weather with good competition,” said head coach Gabe Winkler. “The guys did a lot of really good work over spring break and now I think they are ready to kick off the beginning of the season with some heavy competition.”
COURSE & VIEWING: The Mission Bay course is 2,000-meters and can be viewed from start to finish. Fans can also view the race on the Jumbotron showing the race live from four locations.
RACE TIMES: Oregon State's V8 will compete for the Copley Cup with the first heat scheduled for 8:24 a.m. on Saturday. The JV8 will race for the Sharp Cabrillo Cup taking the water at 9:20 a.m. The 3V8 racing begins at 10:44 a.m. as crews in the event will chase the Derek Guelker Memorial Cup.
