Last Game
Nick Madrigal extended his hit streak to 14 games with a sixth-inning double and Jordan Britton worked 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief but third-ranked Oregon State lost 5-0 to No. 17 California Friday night at Evans Diamond. KJ Harrison, Logan Ice and Trever Morrison also recorded hits for the Beavers. Cal took a 2-0 lead through four thanks to solo home runs from Mitchell Kranson and Brett Cumberland. The Golden Bears scored two more in the fifth and another run in the sixth inning for a five-run lead.
Time Note
• Be advised that Saturday's series finale has been moved up to 12:30 p.m. to help accomodate Oregon State's travel schedule.
• The game had originally been scheduled to be played at 1 p.m.
On Radio
• Due to a conflict with the Portland Trail Blazers, Saturday's game will air on KEX 1190 AM in the Portland area.
• The Oregon State women's basketball game will be joined in progress at the completion of the baseball game.
• Meanwhile, in the Corvallis/Albany area, the baseball game will air on KLOO 1340 AM. The women's basketball team will air on KEJO 1240 AM.
Britton Out Of The 'Pen
• Freshman lefty Jordan Britton has been stellar out of the 'pen over the first two games.
• The Idaho native has tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings against the Bears and has not given up a hit or a walk. He has one hit batter over the two appearances.
• He's also struck out three in each of the two games.
• He has allowed three earned runs over 9 1/3 innings this season, striking out eight to four walks while allowing five hits. Opponents are batting just .161 against him.
Eckert
• Saturday's probable starter, Travis Eckert, has allowed just eight hits and five runs over his last 22 2/3 innings.
• Eckert has struck out 17 over that stretch.
• The righty last pitched on the road March 5 at San Diego. He held the Toreros to three hits and two runs over 7 1/3 innings.
Singles
• Nick Madrigal pushed his hit streak to 14 games with a double in the sixth inning Friday.
• Madrigal has hit safely in 19 of the Beavers' 20 games this season. He has reached base safely in all 20.
• Oregon State is 12-2 in day games this season.
