Football practice is less than two weeks away and Wednesday head coach Gary Andersen announced Victor Bolden, Devin Chappell, Darell Garretson, Sean Harlow and Dustin Stanton will serve as spring practice team captains as selected by their teammates.
Bolden, a senior from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., is one of the top multitalented players in the Pac-12 Conference and enters this year with 25 career starts at wide receiver. He has accounted for 1,321 receiving yards with five touchdowns and overall has 3,619 career all-purpose yards with nine touchdowns with the addition of his rushing, punt and kickoff return statistics. Bolden, who has not redshirted, is a public health major on track to graduate in June of 2017. He was selected to the Pac-12 Conference Honorable Mention team last December.
Chappell is a defensive back will play his second season at OSU. The Springfield native and transfer from Western Oregon started eight games last year making 42 tackles. The senior will graduate in December with a bachelor's degree in economics.
Garretson redshirted last season after transferring from Utah State and enters the season as a junior eligibility-wise with two years to play. The sociology major from Chandler, Ariz., passed for 2,586 yards and 18 touchdowns in two seasons with USU.
Harlow is one of the most experienced offensive lineman in the country with a team-high 28 career starts. The San Clemente, Calif., native will graduate this December in human development and family sciences.
Stanton has 18 starts on the offensive line after beginning his career as a tight end. The Marysville, Wash., native will also graduate this December with a degree in business. He was a Pac-12 Academic Honorable Mention selection last year.
Spring practice begins March 28. The 15-day session concludes April 21. The annual Spring Game is April 16 at Reser Stadium and the Dam City Showcase is April 9 in Hillsboro. The Spring Game and the Dam City Showcase are the open practices/scrimmages that are open to the public.
Oregon State opens the seven-game home football slate for upcoming season in the new-look Reser Stadium, Saturday, Sept. 17 against the Idaho State Bengals, followed by Boise State and Pac-12 Conference games vs. California, Utah, Washington State, Arizona and Oregon.
