
Beavers To Face Cal In Pac-12 Quarterfinals

THE GAME: Oregon State (19-11, 9-9 Pac-12) will face California (22-9, 12-6) in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament at 8:45 p.m. on Thursday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Pac-12 Tournament Notes: Oregon State is the No. 6 seed and takes on the No. 3-seed California Golden Bears at 8:45 p.m. on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
- The Beavers are the No. 6 seed, their highest since being the No. 6 seed in 2010 when that tournament included nine teams.
- Oregon State is 9-16 all-time in the Pac-12 Tournament. California is 13-18.
- The No. 6 seed is 5-13 all-time against the No. 3 seed.
- Oregon State and California have met four times previously in the Pac-12 Tournament with the Golden Bears holding a 3-1 advantage. The Beavers won 79-66 in the quarterfinals on March 10, 1989 at the Forum in Los Angeles. Cal won 64-57 in the quarterfinals on March 6, 1987 at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, 69-46 on March 13, 2003 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and 70-51 in the first round on March 7, 2007 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
- The Beavers are now 2-5 all-time (1-3 Pac-12 Tournament) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The first win came on Dec. 22, 2012 in the first-ever basketball game played at the Grand Garden Arena when they defeated San Diego, 86-79. Oregon State's three Pac-12 Tournament losses came against Colorado (74-68 on March 13, 2013), Oregon (88-74 on March 12, 2014) and Colorado (78-71 on March 11, 2015). - Oregon State and California split the season series with each winning at home. Gary Payton II averaged 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals in the two games. Derrick Bruce scored a career-high 11 at Haas Pavilion.
