Last Game
Pinch hits by Joe Gillette and Caleb Hamilton helped the Beavers overcome 3-0 and 5-4 deficits for a 7-5 victory over Kansas State on Thursday. Hamilton's was a bases-loaded triple in the eighth that put the Beavers up for good. Gillette punctuated a four-run seventh with a two-run single that pushed OSU to a 4-3 advantage. KJ Harrison and Kyle Nobach each had two hits for the Beavers, who won their fourth straight over Kansas State.
Two-Out RBI
• Oregon State has come through in the clutch this season, posting 19 two-out RBI over the first fiva games. The Beavers have driven in 41 runs altogether.
• The Beavers had 102 two-out RBI in 2015. That team drove in 302 runs overall.
Madrigal Stretches To Five Games
• Freshman Nick Madrigal has hit safely in all five games this season, the first of his career. He went 1-for-5 and started a ninth-inning double play in Thursday's victory.
• Madrigal is the reigning Pac-12 Player of the Week after collecting seven hits and six RBI over his first three games.
Donahue In Left
• Sophomore Christian Donahue was the newest Beaver to make their debut in a new position on Thursday.
• He started in left, his first position in the field other than second base.
• Caleb Hamilton (left field), Kyle Nobach (center field) and Trever Morrison (center field) are the other veterans to make starts at new positions this season.
Hello Mr. Anderson
• Jack Anderson, who tallied just seven at bats in 2015, already has seven hits in 2016.
• He failed to record a hit on Thursday, but scored two runs, including one in the seventh when the throw beat him to the plate. Anderson, however, slid to the outside of the plate, avoiding the tag from the catcher.
