Last Season
Oregon State posted a 39-18-1 record in 2015, going 19-10-1 in Pac-12 Conference play. That netted the Beavers a trip to their seventh consecutive postseason. OSU also finished second in Pac-12 action despite being projected to finish fifth by the conference's coaches. OSU was anchored by Pac-12 performers Andrew Moore, Jeff Hendrix, KJ Harrison and Drew Rasmussen. Harrison and Rasmussen return in 2016.
Opening Day
Oregon State is 76-30 all-time in season openers, and is 15-6 under head coach Pat Casey. The Beavers are looking to stretch their winning streak to seven games on opening day, and have outscored their last six foes, 32-18.
Unanimously Top 10
Oregon State is a unanimous top 10 selection as the 2016 unfolds. The Beavers are ranked as high as No. 5 by Baseball America, D1Baseball.com and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). OSU has an average ranking of sixth.
Near Unanimous In The Pac-12
Oregon State earned nine of a possible 10 first-place votes in the Pac-12 Conference's preseason poll. The Beavers thusly garnered 98 of a possible 100 points to become the near unanimous choice to win the Pac-12. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.
They're Sophomores Now
There were just two freshmen named All-Pac-12 last season. KJ Harrison and Drew Rasmussen return as sophomores in 2016 after they were both also named Freshman All-Americans. Harrison was also named the Pac-12's Freshman of the Year.
Since 2005
The Beavers have been arguably the most prolific program in the Pac-12 since 2005, and especially since 2011. Since 2005, OSU has won 459 games, second only to Arizona State's 464. OSU also owns the Pac-12's longest postseason streak at seven seasons.
Singles
• The Beavers are opening their season in Arizona for the third consecutive season. OSU is 6-2 in opening weekends since 2014.
• KJ Harrison is projected to be an All-American by multiple publications.
• OSU is playing Ball State for the first time. The Beavers are 2-2 all-time against MAC opponents, last beating Miami (Ohio), 8-3, in the opening weekend of 2008.
• OSU is 21-9 in neutral games since 2013.
