QUICKLY: Oregon State's next two opponents (at California, at Oregon) are a combined 30-0 at home ... The Beavers have swept the Bay Area schools on the road one time since 1993 (2009) ... Oregon State has one season sweep over California since 1995 (2009) ... The Beavers are 11-0 this season (5-0 Pac-12) with more or equal rebounds as their opponent ... Oregon State has fewer turnovers than its opponent in all 12 Pac-12 games; the turnover margin of +4.6 in conference games leads the Pac-12 ... The Beavers held Stanford to an opponent season-low 50 points and 26 rebounds ... Gary Payton II was named to the Wooden Award Late Season Top 30 and the Naismith Award Midseason List ... Tres Tinkle has led the team in scoring and rebounding in two of the past four games ... Drew Eubanks is fifth in the Pac-12 in field goal percentage (.579) and 12th in blocked shots (1.3) ... Wayne Tinkle now has a win against every team in the Pac-12, including Oregon State (while the head coach at Montana in 2010).
vs. CALIFORNIA: Oregon State and California meet for the 145th time with the Golden Bears holding an 82-62 advantage, including a 42-24 edge in Berkeley.
The Beavers won the first meeting between the teams this season, 77-71, on Jan. 9 at Gill Coliseum. The Beavers built a 14-point lead and held on to snap a five-game losing streak in the series. Gary Payton II had 20 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and four steals. Tres Tinkle (15) and Stephen Thompson Jr. (11) also hit double-digit scoring.
The teams played only once last season. California used an 18-0 second half run to pull away and win 73-56 on March 1, 2015 at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley. Malcolm Duvivier led the Beavers with 18 points and a career-high eight rebounds.
Since the 1994-95 season, the Golden Bears are 15-3 on their home court with the Oregon State wins coming in 1998, 2006 and 2009.
A WIN OVER THE GOLDEN BEARS: If Oregon State defeats California it will improve to 16-8 overall and 7-6 in Pac-12 play. It would also:
- Be the second consecutive year Oregon State started 7-6 in Pac-12 play. The Beavers didn't start 7-6 or better from 1994 to 2014.
- Be the first time Oregon State won four consecutive Pac-12 regular-season games since 2003.
- Be Oregon State's first road sweep of the Bay Area schools since 2009 and just the second since 1993.
