Beavers coast by Corban for exhibition victory

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's basketball team opened the 2016-17 season in successful fashion on Friday night with a 96-58 exhibition victory over Corban University before a Gill Coliseum crowd of 4,663.
Seven players scored in double figures for the Beavers, who never trailed against the Warriors of the NAIA Cascade Athletic Conference. Ten Beavers played at least 14 minutes and nine scored.
Freshman JaQuori McLaughlin had 17 points, four rebounds and three assists in his first college game to pace OSU's balanced attack. The Beavers never tailed, led by as many as 38 points while building a 58-21 halftime advantage, and shot .593 (32-54) from the field and .526 (10-19) on 3-pointers.
Sophomore Tres Tinkle had 15 points, six rebounds and five assists in 21 minutes and Stephen Thompson Jr. added 14 points and two assists in just 19 minutes, while hitting 4 of 5 from deep.
Sophomore Gligorije Rakocevic had 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to lead OSU's 48-29 edge on the boards. Senior Cheikh N'diaye, sophomore Drew Eubanks and junior Daine Muller had 10 points apiece.
Junior guard Ronnie Stacy had five points, six assists and six rebounds in his OSU debut. N'diaye also had six rebounds, Muller and sophomore Tanner Sanders five each.
The Beavers open the regular season by hosting Prairie View A&M at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11. The game will be televised on Pac-12 Oregon.
