Hill Leads Beavers On Day One In Arkansas

EL DORADO, Ark. – Senior Calum Hill posted a 2-over 74 at the Duck Commander Intercollegiate on Sunday to lead the Oregon State men's golf team in the opening round of the three-day, 54-hole event.
The Beavers shot a 17-over 305 at the par-72, 7,064-yard Mystic Creek Golf Club to put them in sixth place in the 10-team field with 36 holes to play.
Stephen F. Austin sits in first place with a 6-over 294, while Arkansas State is a stroke back with a 7-over 295 and Arkansas-Little Rock rounds out the top three with an 11-over 299.
Oregon State will start Monday's second round at 8:30 a.m. CT (6:30 a.m. PT) off the first tee. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Hill had two birdies, both on par-5's, and four bogeys to finish the first round in a tie for eighth place with a 2-over 74.
Junior Jonas Liebich continued his strong play with a 4-over 76, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5, 548-yard 18th hole, to put him in a tie for 18th place.
Senior Kevin Murphy had a team-best four birdies to help him shoot a 5-over 77, while senior Conner Kumpula finished with a 6-over 78 and sophomore Tom Kerkvliet posted a 16-over 88.
Only four golfers in the 60-player field finished in red figures, led by Arkansas State's Tanner Napier who carded a 4-under 68.
