
Beavers to Race Three 8's at Portland Fall Classic

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's rowing team heads north to Portland for the 2015 Portland Fall Classic Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 hosted by the Station L and Rose City Rowing Clubs.
The Beavers will have three 8-man boats racing among the nearly 1,500 rowers from 30 different clubs and universities including Gonzaga and University of Portland at the Portland Fall Classic.
COURSE: The 5,000-meter race course takes place on the Willamette River running from behind the east side of the Ross Island Bridge and travels along the Springwater Corridor, Eastbank Esplanade and ends just before the Steel Bridge.
SPECTATORS: Admission for this event is free, with excellent viewing from the Springwater Corridor and Eastbank Esplanade.
RACE TIMES: The Beavers' Varsity 8 is slated to start in the Men's Collegiate D1 V8 at 8:30 a.m. while two OSU Junior Varsity 8 boats will go in the Men's Collegiate DI JV8 category beginning at 8:31 a.m.
QUOTING HEAD COACH GABE WINKLER: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our less experienced rowers. It'll be fun for the guys and is nice to put forth a good showing of the biggest rowing school in state.”
