DALLAS, Texas - Tough weather conditions took its toll on the Oregon State women's golf team, as the Beavers shot a 46-over 334 in the second round of the three-day, 54-hole SMU/Dallas Athletic Club Invitational on Saturday to fall to 11th place with the final 18 holes slated for Sunday.
The Beavers shot a 25-over 313 at the par-72, 6,301-yard Dallas Athletic Club on Friday to put them in eighth place in the 15-team field. But wind and cooler temperatures affected the scores in Saturday's second round, as all five Oregon State golfers shot in the 80's.
"This was not a happy day for the Beavers in Dallas," head coach Risë Alexander said. "We certainly did not perform to the level we are capable of. The team has taken responsibility for their lack of focus and committed to playing tomorrow with total commitment to each shot; staying in the present and hitting each shot independent of every other shot. Attitudes are contagious. This team's attitude affected their performance today with tough weather conditions, but they need to stay positive and dig deep to improve tomorrow."

Sophomore Anica Yoo, who opened the tournament with a 2-under 70, led the Beavers for the second straight day after carding a 9-over 81. The 7-over 151 is good enough for a tie for ninth place through 36 holes and gives Yoo a chance for her first career top-10 finish.
Juniors Lauren Sewell and Seshia Telles each shot an 11-over 83 on Saturday, which dropped Sewell to a tie for 41st place with a 17-over 78-83--161 and Telles to a tie for 54th with a 20-over 81-83--164.
Senior Rachael Fischer shot a 15-over 87 for the second straight day and is in sole 74th place with a 30-over 174, while freshman Ashlee Pickerell is tied for 69th with a 29-over 84-89--173.
Oklahoma State leads the tournament with a 24-over 600 and has a four-stroke lead over Denver (28-over 604) and five-stroke advantage on rival Oklahoma (29-over 605). Julie Yang of Oklahoma State was the lone player in the field to shoot in red figures on Saturday to give her the clubhouse lead with a 6-under 70-68--138.
The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. CT (6:30 a.m. PT) on Sunday with a shotgun start. The Beavers will be paired with Louisville and North Texas, and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
