OSU wins four races over a two-day stretch versus Northeastern, California, Oklahoma and Clemson
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – The OSU women's rowing team closed out a busy weekend at the Pac-12 Invitational, with two pairs of dual races against Clemson Sunday morning at Redwood Shores.
The Beavers finished second to the Tigers in each of the four races Sunday, with the closest coming in the Novice 8+ race, as the Clemson boat crossed the finish line just a little more than three seconds ahead of OSU's.
"This weekend was incredibly helpful for us,” Ford said following her team's final race. “We had the opportunity to race three great teams from three different conferences and it was nice to get a glimpse of what is happening on the national stage.”
As a unit the Beavers went 3-0 against Northeastern, 1-3 versus Oklahoma and 0-1 matched-up with California on Saturday. The 0-4 mark versus Clemson on Sunday put their two-day Invitational record at 4-8, while each individual boat brought to the event came away with an overall record of 1-2.
“We had some decent races and some tough races,” Ford thought. “I don't think any crew is leaving here feeling like they put together an amazing race start to finish, so that is something we will work on in weeks to come. We learned a lot and, with the right perspective and approach, I believe we have a lot of speed to gain in the upcoming weeks."
Oregon State will next travel to South Carolina, where they will again see the Tigers at the Clemson Invite, scheduled for April 20-21.
