Telles Moves Up One Spot After Another Solid Round In Florida

SORRENTO, Fla. - Junior Seshia Telles shot a 3-over 75, which included 16 pars, at the UCF Challenge on Monday and moved up a spot into a tie for 27th place with one round to play at the spring's opening tournament.
Oregon State shot a 24-over 312 at the par-71, 6,374-yard RedTail Golf Club on Monday after opening the tournament, and the spring season, with a 17-over 305. The Beavers have yet to find the groove they had in the fall when they posted four top-10 finishes, as they sit in 18th place with one round to play at the three-day, 54-hole event.
"I felt like we were well prepared to compete this week," Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. "We evidently were not and the team is determined to improve. The most important thing they can do right now is get back to the basics of believing in themselves and walking with their heads up. I know they have tremendous talent, but that means nothing if they choose not to use it. I know they are capable, but they have to believe in themselves right now. Tomorrow's round will be a huge step of getting back on track. They must dig deep and not accept anything less than their best. I am depending on our team leaders to make sure that message is clear."

Telles reeled off 11 straight pars to start the day before taking a bogey on the par-4 third hole. She put four more pars on her scorecard but took a double-bogey on the par-4 eighth before finishing the day with a par. She sits in a tie for 27th place with a 4-over 73-75--148 with the final 18 holes slated for Tuesday.
"Seshia had another solid round today with individual and team scores averaging higher today than yesterday," Alexander said. "I felt as if she had another excellent ball-striking day and just wasn't able to drop any putts. When she puts the two together, which she will, she will consistently be at par or under par."
Junior Lauren Sewell and sophomore Anica Yoo are both tied for 76th with a 12-over 156. Sewell has shot back-to-back 6-over 78's, while Yoo only had one birdie on Monday to finish with a 9-over 81, a day after carding a 3-over 75.
Freshman Chelsea Saelee shot a 6-over 78 on Monday and is tied for 81st with a 13-over 79-78--157, while senior Chelsey Lind is in 99th place with a 23-over 83-84--167.
