Kate Nakaoka Posts Top 10 Finish To Lead Beavers In Phoenix

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Kate Nakaoka posted her third career Top 10 finish to lead the Oregon State women's golf team at the PING/ASU Invitational on Tuesday.

The Beavers concluded the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a sixth-place finish after shooting a 6-over 296-288-286—870 at the par-72, 6,570-yard Papago Golf Club. The 2-under 286 in the final round was the second-best team score of the day.

Oregon State, ranked No. 46 nationally, finished ahead of two Top 20 teams in No. 14 UCLA (+10, 874) and No. 19 Northwestern (+23, 887).

Nakaoka, a true freshman from Mililani, Hawai'i, recorded a career-best round (4-under 68) and best career three-round score (5-under 211) to finish in a tie for sixth place with a 5-under 71-72-68—211.

Her previous best score was a 3-under 69 in the first round of the Bruin Wave Invitational earlier this spring and her previous best three-round score was an even-par 216 at the Bruin Wave Invitational.

Nakaoka's three Top 10 finishes in this freshman campaign include a career-best tie for fourth at the Molly Collegiate Invitational at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, a tie for 10th at the Lady Luck Invitational in Las Vegas and sixth at the PING/ASU Invitational in Phoenix.

Senior Kyra Ly was steady throughout the three days of the tourney, firing a 2-under 72-71-71—214 with 10 birdies to finish in a tie for 14th place.

She now has 19 Top 15 finishes in her four-year career and 43 scores in red figures.

Raya Nakao improved her score each day, posting a 4-over 76-73-71—220 to finish in a tie for 31st place. She carded a bogey-free 1-under 71 in the final round that jumped her 18 spots up the leaderboard.

Kelly Hope has fired a season-best even-par 72 in the second round and finished the tournament in a tie for 52nd place with a 9-over 77-72-76—225. The 9-over 225 was her best three-round score of the 2025-26 campaign.

Clara Alevag finished in 84th place with a 22-over 82-80-76—238.

No. 2 USC won the team title with a 23-under 841 and Davina Xanh of Cal State Fullerton claimed the individual crown with an 8-under 208.

The Beavers will next compete at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, Calif., from Monday, April 6 to Wednesday, April 8.
