Los Angeles, Calif. – Three Oregon State players scored in double-figures, but the Beavers (11-7, 2-5 Pac-12) fell 69-60 at UCLA (8-9, 3-3 Pac-12) on Thursday evening in the John Wooden Center.
Freshman Ali Gibson (Woodbridge, Calif.) was the team's leading scorer with 16 points, while junior Sage Indendi (Livingston, Mont.) had 13, and senior Earlysia Marchbanks (Salem, Ore.) rounded out the group with 11 points.
Junior ShaKiana Edwards-Teasley (Lapwai, Idaho) led Oregon State on the boards with nine rebounds.
Gibson was the catalyst for four of the Bruins' six first-half turnovers, counting four steals with the Beavers counting eight of their points, while leading Oregon State with eight points with a pair of three-pointers.
After opening up with the initial points of the game, the Beavers fell behind by as many as 10 near the midway point, but a 11-1 run by Oregon State tied the game up at 31 with under two minutes to play in the half. But back-to-back buckets by Rebekah Gardner gave UCLA the 35-31 lead going into the locker room at the half.
The Beavers counted the first basket of the second half on junior Patricia Bright's (Phoenix, Ariz.) layup, but the Bruins counted back-to-back runs of six-plus to count their largest lead of the game at the 49-35 mark.
Indendi boosted Oregon State back within 10 points with a pair of consecutive three-pointers at the 49-41 mark, but the Beavers were unable to get any closer before time expired.
Oregon State scored 32 points in the paint, while tallying 15 points off of UCLA's 15 turnovers. Overall, the Beavers shot 35.5 percent and 71.4 percent from the free throw line.
UCLA's Markel Walker nearly counted a triple-double with 15 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists to lead the Bruins.
