EUGENE, Ore. - Josh Osich struck out five and scattered four hits and three runs over five innings, but the sixth-ranked Oregon State baseball team dropped a 4-1 decision to Oregon Saturday afternoon at PK Park.
The series finale is Sunday at 1 p.m. PT.
Osich dropped to 6-4 this season after taking the loss. He threw 77 pitches and allowed just three runs in the third inning in his 15th start of the season.
Osich's counterpart, Christian Jones, went 5 1/3 innings and allowed five hits and a run while walking six and striking out five. He improved to 7-2 this season.
Oregon State (38-16 overall, 17-9 Pacific-10 Conference) took a 1-0 lead in the third when Brian Stamps tripled home Ryan Barnes with two outs, but the Ducks took the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning when a bases-clearing double by Aaron Jones gave Oregon a two-run advantage.
The Ducks (32-26-1, 10-16) added to their lead with a run-scoring single by Stefan Sabol in the sixth.
Scott McGough worked the final 3 2/3 innings for Oregon for his fifth save of the season.
Jones was the game's lone batter with multiple hits, tallying two on the day.
Oregon State and Oregon conclude the regular season Sunday at PK Park. The series finale is slated for a 1 p.m. PT start.
