BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The Oregon State women's golf team is tied for 11th place after the second round at the 15-team UNLV Spring Invitational.
The Beavers shot a 22-over 310 on Tuesday and are tied with Idaho with a 301-310--611 at the par-72, 6,244-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being hosted by UNLV and concludes on Wednesday.
"I thought we made some very crucial mistakes that cost us several shots," Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. "Our short game and short shots were not up to our standards today. I do think we are making progress on our course management skills and are learning a lot about playing in the wind. So tomorrow should be a better performance for all of us."
Junior Whitney French continues to pace the Beavers after following her even-par round on Monday with a 4-over 76 on Tuesday and is tied for 21st overall. Freshman Seshia Telles fired a 5-over 77 on Tuesday and is tied for 36th with an 8-over 75-77--152, while freshman Lauren Sewell improved her score by seven strokes on Tuesday with a 6-over 78.
Pepperdine shot a 10-under 278 on Tuesday and leads the tournament with a 13-under 285-278--563, just two strokes ahead of BYU, which sits at 11-under 280-285--565. Kelsey Vines of BYU is the individual clubhouse leader at 8-under 66-70--136.
