CORVALLIS, Ore. - Andrew Susac hit his third home run of the season and James Nygren threw his first career complete game as the Oregon State baseball team swept a doubleheader, and subsequently a four-game series, from Hartford Sunday at Goss Stadium.
The Beavers won game two, 13-2, after posting a 9-1 victory in game one. The victories extended OSU's win streak to six straight; it is the longest active streak in the Pacific-10 Conference.
"We had a good day to end the series," Oregon State head coach Pat Casey said. "We had solid starts from James Nygren and Josh Osich and had the chance to get some guys some great at bats. We're very happy to sweep this doubleheader and this series."
Josh Osich started game two and worked 3 1/3 innings before giving way to Tony Bryant in the fourth. Osich scattered two hits and no runs while striking out seven in his third start of the season.
Osich picked up the win, the first of his career, as was it was predetermined prior to the start of the game that he would go no longer than four innings in the start.
Susac's home run in the fourth pushed the Beavers' lead to seven. The three-run shot was his third of the season, all coming during his eight-game hit streak which he extended during game two. The sophomore finished the game with a 2-for-4 effort, driving in four.
He drove in his first run during OSU's four-run first, doing so with a single through the left side. Danny Hayes and Parker Berberet also contributed RBI during the inning.
The Beavers added to the lead with a run in the sixth and five more in the eighth.
Hayes added a 2-for-5 effort with three RBI.
Tyler Corsi took the loss for Hartford (0-4 overall) after going four full. He allowed seven runs on seven hits while striking out two to drop to 0-1.
