Head Coach Craig Robinson
On the reason some players didn't play in the game...
"It was a team violation. These guys know me. They know how to manage me and how to mismanage me. So they knew something was coming down. You have to remember we are dealing with young men and they make mistakes. I, as a mentor, coach, older person looking out for them have to not only be responsible for myself and the staff but for the guys. That's all I'm doing; just trying to do the right thing consistently."
On disciplining players...
"It was something I was raised with. I guess you could say it started with my career but it was before my career began. It happened to me growing up and that's how I ended up staying out of trouble. It just feels better doing the right thing. My coaching staff is happy. My outside staff is happy. Even those players who didn't get to play are happy because they are proud of their teammates who made this a little less egregious by showing up the way they did."
On the thoughts of the six players who played...
"I couldn't be happier. I couldn't be more proud of them.
On the disappointment of the players who didn't play...
"I was disappointed. Now I'm not. I couldn't be more proud of every single guy in the locker room because I saw the guys on the bench getting our guys worked up on the side and helping our guys make plays and when they were down on our end, they were counting the clock down. It was a complete team effort. Like I said, the fact that our team played so hard made their punishment not so harsh."
On whether the players who missed the game will play in the Pac-10 Tournament...
"Yes. Just like all of ours, nothing was done serious enough to go any further past today."
On the play of Roberto Nelson...
"I was very happy for him. He's struggled but I couldn't be more proud of every single one of those guys, including Roberto."
On Arizona State shooting so many three-pointers...
"These guys are bigger, stronger, faster so they fatigue and what happened was, when we got tired, we couldn't get out on the shooters. I don't want to take anything away from them. They made shots. They made a lot and they took a lot of shots. If we aren't so tired, we play a little bit harder on those 3's."
