CORVALLIS, Ore. - Sophomore Lauren Sewell shot an even-par 71 in the first round at the Stanford Intercollegiate in Stanford, Calif., on Friday to lead the Oregon State women's golf team in their third tournament of the fall season.
The Beavers shot a 9-over 293 at the par-71, 6,148-yard Stanford Golf Course and sit in a tie for 14th place at the three-day, 54-hole event that concludes on Sunday.
Sewell had her best scoring round of the 2011 season with two birdies and an eagle on the par-4 13th hole and is tied for 24th individually. Freshman Anica Yoo continued her consistent play with a 2-over 73, while sophomore Seshia Telles shot a 3-over 74 and senior Whitney French finished with a 4-over 75.
The second round will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
