Raven Collegiate Invitational Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman Seshia Telles led the Beavers with a top 10 finish in her first career collegiate tournament. Telles finished tied for ninth after a 5-over-par 77 final round left her at 9-over (74-74-77) 225 for the tournament.
"It was very nerve-racking with it being my first tournament," Telles said. "My mental strategy was to treat the course like any other course. I had my mind set to only focus on my score alone and to beat the course. It was exciting to see that my overall scores were a positive for my team."
Junior Whitney French and freshman Lauren Sewell also wrapped up play with top 20 finishes tying for 18th.
"I am very pleased with the performance of our freshmen," head coach Ris¸ Alexander said. "They bring a fresh influx of talent and we are very excited about their talent."
The Beavers fired rounds of 301 and 308 on Monday before posting a 314 in the final round on Tuesday for a tournament total of 921. Northern Arizona won the tourney with a (302-299-304) 905 in the two-day, 54-hole season-opening event.
"We had a rough day today but altogether I think we are off to a positive start for the year," Alexander said. "We definitely need to find more depth in our scoring, which I am certain that we will this fall."
French finished the tournament with a two-day score of (75-74-79) 228 while Sewell used rounds of (73-78-77) 228 to tie her teammate. Elyse Okada finished at 244 and Kristina Gargaro wrapped up the tournament at 247.
