
Softball Falls to No. 7 UCLA

Corvallis, Ore. - Freshman Ally Kutz (Mt. Vernon, Wash.) earned the lone hit for the Oregon State softball team (21-19, 2-5 Pac-10) in Friday afternoon's 12-0 loss to the No. 7 UCLA Bruins (28-9, 2-5 Pac-10) at the OSU Softball Complex.
The Beavers put two more base runners on in senior Tarah Black (Portland, Ore.), who reached on a four-pitch walk, and sophomore Mary Claire Brenner (Portland, Ore.), who battled to a full count walk.
UCLA broke open the game early, scoring six runs in the top of the first on three hits before scoring five more in the second and another in the third before being held scoreless in the final two innings.
Freshman Marina Demore (Vancouver, British Columbia) was charged with the loss after throwing 0.1 innings, facing four batters, making her record 1-1. UCLA's Donna Kerr improved to 14-5 after throwing 3.0 innings with Megan Langenfeld coming in relief to throw the remaining two innings.
