CORVALLIS, Ore. - David Lucas scored 24 points and Oregon State went on a 12-0 game-ending run to beat Oregon 90-81 Saturday night in the 319th meeting between the two teams.
The Beavers trailed 81-78 but Lucas' jumper narrowed it and Jim Hanchett's layup with 1:14 left put the Beavers (7-6, 1-2 Pacific-10) ahead for good.
Oregon State's victory came despite the spectacular performance of Oregon forward Luke Jackson, who had career-highs with 39 points and 16 rebounds.
The loss snapped a nine-game rivalry winning streak for the Ducks (6-4, 1-2).
Oregon spent most of the first half playing catch-up after Oregon State jumped out to an early 10-point lead and rallied midway through.
The Ducks made their move in the second, taking a 53-48 lead on James Davis' 3-pointer. But the Beavers never let Oregon extend it by more than seven points, and when the Ducks went cold in the final two minutes, OSU took over.
Lucas scored 22 of his points in the second half.
Oregon State jumped out to an early 12-2 lead, but it was short-lived and the Ducks went on a 12-2 run to tie it at 14 on Jackson's free throws.
After J.S. Nash hit a jumper to keep Oregon State ahead, Jackson hit a 3-pointer to give Oregon its first lead at 17-16.
Chris Stephens responded with his own 3-pointer to spark a rally that put the Beavers up 28-20 on Kyle Jeffers' rebound basket midway through the first.
Oregon caught up again and tied it at 30 on Jackson's driving layup, and his next shot put the Ducks ahead. The teams wrestled back and forth, but Nash's pair of free throws gave the Beavers a 36-35 lead at the half.
Jackson, who averaged 21 points going in to the game to lead the team and rank second in the Pac-10, has scored in double digits in all of the Ducks' games and has seven 20-plus games.
His previous high for points was 29, set twice.
