CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Derek Anderson threw for 408 yards and James Newson had nine receptions for 208 yards as Oregon State held on to beat Boise State 26-24 on Saturday night, ending the Broncos' 14-game winning streak.
Ryan Dinwiddie was 19-of-36 for 334 yards for the Broncos (2-1), who missed a chance to take the lead with 7:32 left when Tyler Jones' 32-yard field-goal attempt sailed wide right.
The Beavers (3-1) followed with a clock-eating, 17-play drive that ended with Anderson kneeling at the Boise State 16 as the final seconds ticked off.
Oregon State held David Mikell, who entered the game as the nation's second-leading rusher with 167 yards per game, to just 45 yards on 16 carries.
The Beavers' Steven Jackson, the Pac-10's leading rusher, ran for 122 yards on 30 carries after spraining a knee last week in a victory over New Mexico State.
Oregon State gained 562 total yards, and Kirk Yliniemi kicked a team-record four field goals. But the Beavers were penalized 14 times for 144 yards, often for holding.
After falling behind 13-0, Boise State scored 17 second-quarter points and led 17-16 at the half. Tim Gilligan returned a punt 62 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with 1:19 left in the half.
Jason Lowe recovered a botched snap on a Boise State punt at the Broncos 28 to set up Yliniemi's 41-yard field goal that gave Oregon State a 19-17 lead in the third.
The Beavers opened the fourth quarter with a 48-yard pass from Anderson to Newson to the Broncos 11. Jackson ran for a touchdown on the next play to make it 26-17.
Dinwiddie led the Broncos back, orchestrating a nine-play, 79-yard drive that Mikell capped with a 3-yard touchdown run.
