CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Boise State guard Ryan Defares scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, leading his team to an 82-80 win over Oregon State Saturday.
The Broncos, 4-0 on the road, improved to 8-1 and 6-22 all-time against Pac-10 teams.
Bronco guard Jermaine Blackburn added 16 points and forward Aaron Haynes tipped in 13.
The Beavers dropped to 4-4 and were led by forward Jim Hanchett with 18 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Guard Chris Stephens added 16 points.
Oregon State was ahead 41-40 at halftime but Boise State continued to keep it close until OSU guard Lamar Hurd hit a lay-in and was fouled giving the Beavers a 78-74 lead with 3:38 left.
The Broncos outscored OSU 8-2 in the remaining time.
Defares missed two three-throws with 1 second left but Stephens' layin missed and the Broncos ran out the clock.
OSU opens Pac-10 play at UCLA Jan. 2.
Boise State took advantage of poor OSU first-half shooting to make an 18-4 run and get a 20-8 lead. Oregon State hit just three of its first 14 shots. Haines got seven points during the run.
