P>Stanford, Cal. - Oregon State University's Carina Olsson shot a 1-over-par 73 in the opening round of the Peg Barnard California Collegiate, and is in sixth place. The 36-hole event, being hosted at the Stanford Golf Course, concludes Sunday.
Olsson, who is looking for her best finish of the season, shot 36 on the front nine, followed by a 37. The junior is two shots out of first place, held by Amanda Moltke-Leth of UCLA, and Southern California's Candie Kung, and Yon Yim.
As a team, the Beavers are eighth after a 313. Oregon State enters the final round 12 shots back of the host Stanford Cardinal. Washington, UCLA, and Southern California share second at 302.
Rachel Borcherts had the second best round for OSU, she is tied for 14th after a 76. Bridget Bieth is tied for 38th at 80, Erin Borcherts is tied for 51st at 84, and Jennifer Ferrante is tied for 53rd at 85.
