HONOLULU - Tarrah Beyster hit two home runs and Steph Adams added another as the 12th-ranked Oregon State softball team posted a 9-1 win over Hawaii in five innings at the Bank of Hawaii Invitational late Saturday evening.
Beyster went 3-for-3 with two runs and six RBI in the win. Her second hit of the game -- a single to left field -- was her 200th career hit, becoming just the second Beaver to reach the 200 hits milestone.
The Beavers (25-6-1) have now hit 28 home runs on the season, breaking the school record of 27 set last season. Beyster leads the squad with 11 this season, while Adams has four to rank second.
After giving up a run in the first and then sitting through a rain delay, OSU responded with six runs in the bottom half of the first. Shawna Feldt, Brooke Rutschman and Shelly Prochaska started things off with back-to-back-to-back singles before Beyster came to the plate to hit her first career grand slam over the right field fence.
"We gave up an unearned run in the first after an error that was due to the rain, and then we sat for 20 minutes with a rain delay," said coach Kirk Walker. "But, we kept our focus and came out on fire, with our first four batters all scoring."
Beyster also pitched a complete game, giving up just three hits and a walk while striking out four batters. The only run of the game was an unearned run, and she improved to 15-5 with the win.
OSU also got two hits apiece from Prochaska, Adams and Brynnen Guthrie. Adams drove in two runs -- one on her solo home run and another one her first career triple.
The Beavers concluded the round robin portion of the tournament with a 4-1 record to earn the No. 2 seed entering Sunday's bracket play. OSU will play at 5 p.m. PST and will play the winner of the game between the No. 3 and No. 6 seeds.
