William Rafferty joined the Oregon State rowing staff as an assistant coach in the fall of 2021.
Rafferty comes to the Beavers after spending five-month with Moorestown Rowing Club in New Jersey, where he was the assistant coach for the men’s varsity. He served as a consultant for the team’s training program and regimen and helped coach two U17 boats and a U19 boat to grand finals in the U23 category at the Club Championship Regatta.
Rafferty competed as a varsity rower at Marietta College in Ohio, serving primarily as a port-side oarsman. He raced in the Varsity 8+ IRA Championships in 2021, and competed in the Dad Vail Regatta on three occasions. He earned Marietta's J. Ellis McDonald Award for his efforts, and All-Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference honors twice. Rafferty also served as the Small Boats Coach for the West Side Rowing Club for 3 months in the summer of 2018.
A graduate of Marietta College, Rafferty earned a bachelor's degree in economics in May of 2021. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity
