Stefan Evano finished his first season with the Beavers in 2021.
Evano joined Oregon State after spending five years with NorCal Rowing in Redwood City, Calif., most recently as the head coach of the varsity women’s team. He helped NorCal achieve a multitude of best ever results for the team, including its first medals at the Head of the Charles Regatta, its best national championship finish in seven years and its first ever victories over some of California’s largest teams. Evano also served as interim director in 2018-19, helping NorCal transition through a change in leadership.
Prior to joining NorCal, Evano spent two years at Indiana as the director of operations for the Hoosiers’ women’s rowing program. He helped guide Indiana to its first two NCAA Championship appearances, and was part of a group that won the 2014 CRCA National Coaching Staff of the Year Award.
Evano served as an assistant coach at Oregon State from 2011-13, helping the Beavers recruit and develop novice rowers. He coached the varsity four to consecutive Pac-12 medals in 2012 and 2013, and an IRA grand final finish in 2013.
A four-year varsity coxwain, Evano graduated from Oregon State in 2011 with a degree in New Media Communication. He is working towards his Masters in Sports Psychology and Sports Studies from San Jose State.
Evano will return to Corvallis along with his wife Bonnie, who was also a coxswain and coach at Oregon State.
