Montoya begins his first year in the athletic communications department at Oregon State University for the 2017-18 season. Montoya joined the staff in August and will serve as the primary media contact for the men’s soccer, swimming and softball programs.
Before coming to Corvallis, Montoya spent the 2016-17 season as a Communications Coordinator for the University of Denver. He was the primary media contact for the Pioneer volleyball and women’s lacrosse programs and secondary contact for the men’s soccer, men’s basketball and men’s lacrosse programs.
In addition to his duties at Denver, Montoya was also the primary contact for the 2016 Summit League Volleyball Championships, traveled with the volleyball program to Stanford, Calif., for their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, traveled with the men’s soccer program to Houston for their first NCAA College Cup appearance in program history and assisted with coverage of the men’s lacrosse program’s 2017 NCAA Tournament appearance.
Prior to his time at Denver, Montoya spent two years as a Sports Information Graduate Assistant for the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D., from 2014-16 as the primary contact for the volleyball, men’s soccer, women’s basketball, wrestling, women’s tennis and softball programs. He also interned with the Colorado Mesa University sports information department in Grand Junction, Colo., from 2010-12 as the primary contact for the track and field and men’s and women’s lacrosse programs.
A native of Austin, Texas, Montoya graduated in 2012 from Colorado Mesa University with a bachelor’s of science in sport management and finished his M.B.A. at the University of Mary in 2016.
Montoya currently resides in Corvallis.
