Former two-year letterman safety Devin Chappell joined the Beaver football staff March 30, 2020 as a recruiting assistant. He assists with on-campus logistics of the Beavers’ recruiting efforts.

Chappell, a native of Springfield, Ore., started 20 games as a safety/nickel back and tied a Beaver record with six forced fumbles in 2016. He accounted for 120 career tackles, including 77 as a senior while serving as a team captain. He played in the NFLPA Collegiate All-Star Game following his senior season.

He graduated from OSU with a bachelor’s degree in economics and signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played for the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football.

Chappell came to OSU after playing two seasons at Western Oregon University.

Chappell holds a Texas Teaching Certificate and served as a 10^th-grade teacher at Lahman High School in Kyle, Texas. While at Lehman he was an assistant football and basketball coach.
