2014: Kana suffered an ankle injury in the fall that required surgery and ended her season.

PREP CAREER: Kana is a five-time qualifier to Junior Olympic nationals … won the J.O. national championship on the uneven bars in 2011 and finished eighth in the all-around … earned top honors on bars and finished fourth in the all-around at Regionals that year as well as state titles on bars and balance beam and a second place finish in the all-around … missed 2012 season due to injury … trained at the Olympus School of Gymnastics under coaches Mary Wright and Ryan Kirkham.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Keizo and the late Noriko Kobayashi … has one sister, Fumina, who was a gymnast at Utah 2009-12 … honor roll student … graduated with an honor diploma … enjoys traveling, hiking and cooking … chose OSU because “I absolutely love the coaches! The team is hilarious and was very welcoming. The campus is so beautiful and makes you feel at home” … plans to study exercise and sport science.
